Importing problems with Yosemite

Ever since I updated to Yosemite system software, I've had problems with the import function within Aperture. It won't recognize memory cards and is inconsistent recognizing my camera when I connect it to my computer to download images. The finder recognizes the card just fine. Is anyone else having a similar experience? Does anyone have a suggested fix?
