Changing password in SMTP

I recently changed my password on my email account & am trying to update the password on my Iphone 5. I am able to receive messages but cannot send them. I am on IOS 8.3. I have tried to update the password on the outgoing mail server but the area is grayed out & will not allow me to do so. Any suggestions?

After changing the password for your email account, I suggest you remove the account from your iPhone, and then add it back with your new password.

  1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  2. Tap the affected email account.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Add your account again.
