Charging/Can't hear Music

Hi ! I Got a Ipod Shuffle and i plugged in the computer with the dock , it always blinks 3 times orange , 1 time green and then turns off . It's also recognized by itunes . When i put the earphones in the ipod , nothing happens . no lights .
