How to pair Bluetooth headphones to iPhone when Apple watch is already connected to iPhone?

How to pair Bluetooth headphones to iPhone when Apple watch is already connected to iPhone? When I unpaired the headphones from the watch the iPhone isn't able to find the bluetooth headphones. Can the phone be connected to more than one device?

My iPhone is paired to multiple devices. My bluetooth headphones are paired to both my watch and my iPhone.

I suggest you pair the headphones to the iPhone, you only need to pair them with your watch if you have music loaded onto the watch and intend to be out of range of the phone.
