You can read multiple replies dealing with this issue here in the forum .. just type "icloud for windows install problems". Your issue is not confined to Windows 8, it is also an issue for windows 7. There seems to be a problem in the installer package embedded in the update that Apple pushes out. In my case, and many others, neither version 4 nor 4.02 installed.

After all the posted comments here in the forum I was very optimistic that the next release (4.1, which is now out) would address and resolve the issue. It has not. That fact troubles me less than the absence of any reply, comment, suggestion or even just plain acknowledgment by Apple of this issue.

In fairness, we cannot hold Apple accountable for performance of windows based equipment. That said, however, as long as Apple continues to support and issue updates to iCloud for Windows, the software and install packages they issue should be installable on the pcs they are designed for.

Hello Qfufs,

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with iCloud on your Windows machine. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on exactly what you are seeing when you try to install iCloud. If you continue to have issues installing or configuring iCloud on your PC, you may want to double-check the steps outlined in the following article:

Set up and use iCloud for Windows - Apple Support

Brenden:

Thank you for engaging in this thread. The iCloud for Windows installation issue is not confined to a single user or to windows 8.* either. YOu can find multiple posts in this community from many, many folks experiencing same problem. I'm running win 7 (which I always keep up to date with every update from microsoft). Although iCloud for Windows 3.1 is still working on my PC, all attempts to load iCloud for Windows 4, 4.02 and now 4.1 result in the same issue. The installation program runs, indicates that files are being copied and when it gets close to the end of install it stops and error message appears on screen that there is a problem with the installation package. Some users have posted suggested work-arounds, which I have tried to no avail. I contacted Microsoft tech support and they were not aware of any issues on their end .. they also suggested clean reboot, which I tried and that did not work.

Would you please check on your end and attempt to raise the urgency level of this issue to where Apple will engage, troubleshoot and either issue update to resolve or post step by step instructions for users to resolve.

Thank you!

Harris

Just wanted to add my report to those many who are being frustrated by not being able to upgrade iCloud for Windows to version 4.1. My PC running Windows 7 has iCloud 3.1. My Mac running Yosemite and iPod Touch running iOS 8 have no issues with iCloud. Here are screen clippings of the two error messages:

Hope this helps. Please give us some acknowledgement of the problem by Apple.

Thanks.

Dr. Richard: Thank you for your post, including clear display of the error messages we are experiencing when we try to update iCloud for Windows to any version later than 3.1. You end your post by asking for acknowledgement of issue by Apple. That, of course, is the issue. Apple has not been willing to even acknowledge the issue. In this thread it appears that we did solicit a comment from an "Apple Community Specialist" named brenden dv. brenden dv, in his response, indicated that he was not quite clear on what we were experiencing when trying to install any version of iCloud for Windows newer than 3.1. Although the error messages were displayed on related threads in this Community, perhaps brenden dv can look at the copies you posted in this one so that he might now understand the messages we are seeing.

Here's all I want from Apple (and, I suspect, many similarly situated folks would like): (1) Acknowledge that there seems to be a problem which is prohibiting multiple users from upgrading iCloud for Windows to any version later than 3.1 .. simple acknowledgment would be welcome as a start; (2) If this problem is daunting Apple, just tell us that Apple is aware of the issue and is working on a solution; (3) If Apple has been ignoring the issue or in denial that it exists, please engage in it, troubleshoot and - ideally - resolve through issue of update that will successfully install; or (4) If Apple cannot resolve through update of program, but issue is resolvable, please post clear, step by step instructions that users like me can follow ourselves to resolve the problem rather than relying on random posts from other users who have posted some steps that helped them .. no disrespect to those fellow, helpful users and their good intentions, but such direction should come from Apple, not left to chance.

Just upgraded to Office 2016 including Outlook 2016. Lost all Icloud syncing along with calendar and contacts and can no longer use Outlook calendar or contacts on my PC. As previously reported I too cannot install Icloud 4.1 as well. I think Apple is falling down on the job here as most people who have pcs and use Icloud are doing so because they have either or both Ipads or Iphones This is a matter of making iPhone and ipads work with a major existing technology and it's platform. If they continue to fail to support their platforms then Microsoft's own tablets and phones will become more attractive.

iCloud 4.1 will not install on Windows 8.1
