    Yes, you can delete the iPhoto library, but that would burn all bridges, and it would not save much space.  Your new Photos library and the old iPhoto Library are sharing the original image files. As long as you do not delete the photos from both libraries, no storage will be freed.

     

    I would wait with deleting the iPhoto Library, until you have tested the Photos Library thoroughly and are sure, each and every photo transferred without any corruptions and no photos and videos are missing.  If there should be problems, you may need the iPhoto Library to be able to fix the problem in iPhoto and to repeat the migration.  At least, make a copy of the iPhoto library on an external drive, before you delete it from your Mac.
