After the Apple Watch 1.0.1 Update, Heart Rate stopped working...

After I updated my Watch to 1.0.1, the heart rate monitor no longer monitors my heart rate in the background. It only monitors my heart rate when I ask it to take a reading.

This is really, really annoying. Has anyone else experienced this? It was working perfectly before the update.

After I updated the latest software for the iwatch, the heart beat app does not appear on the running mode?

I usually used this to monitor my heart beat while doing fast track exercise regime. I only have the KM, Calories and time function but not the heart beat.

I also find the heart beat apps unable to provide the data consistently, it takes too long to give the reading and most certainly so much slower than before.

I just got my watch yesterday and installed the update right away, but noticed this same thing. I came here because I noticed it was not working. At least not consistently. I see one reading from two hours ago that seemed to have automatically appeared in the health app, but certainly not every 10 minutes like they say. Thought it was a problem with the sensor and was coming here to see if others had this problem, but maybe is an issue with the last update.

Noticing the same thing. After the update, HR monitoring is ver inconsistent. Definitely not every 10 minutes as it was before the update.

Also, on my bike ride this morning , about half the time i glanced at the watch .. it was searching for my heart rate. I never saw that before in workout mode prior to 1.01. I think the have introduced some new bugs.

same thing happened to me today.

i turned off the phone then turned off the watch then re-booted the phone and after the phone was up re-booted the watch....it worked for hourly for 3 hours and now it is not updating automatically

it works if i manually measure the heartbeat (and i can see the results on the watch but now it is not being recorded in the health app on the phone)

The fact that it was having trouble acquiring my heart rate at least 1/2 the time I checked it this morning leads me to believe Apple made some sort of change to possibly increase battery life at the expense of frequent/accurate heart rate readings. I think the reason the every 10 minute readings are now sporadic is that the watch is trying, but failing to acquire a heart rate.

Personally I don't have a problem charging the watch multiple times during the day if I need to as long as my workout data is accurate and complete. I include my resting heart rate data in that as well. Personally I think Apple is overly obsessed with the battery life issue.

I hope 1.02 is out quickly with a fix.

I experience the same issue and called apple support to log the issue. It was working fine before the update, but now only manually updates when I go check my HR in the glances screen. It never checks HR otherwise.

I don't think this is new feature to conserve battery life, because it NEVER updates unless I check it manually - OR - use one of the workout apps.

I've hard reset my watch, reset it back to factory and reinstalled with nothing solving the issue.
