Mail user can not retrieve email - (no buffer space available)

One of my users complained that he couldn't access his emails and gets an error message.

The error message (in Yosemite Mail) tells the user to look in the Server Log files. This is what I find:

imap(pid 1746 user <username>): Error: read(/Library/Server/Mail/Data/mail/<userid>/dovecot-uidlist) failed: No buffer space available

This goes on for quite a number of lines. There are no authentication issues (he can send messages), purely this error. There is plenty of hard disk space available and no usage limits for this user.

The error happened on a Mavericks server which has been upgraded to Yosemite (still the same error).

I have been searching the internet, but to no avail. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I finally solved this by deleting the 'dovecot-uidlist' file. Dovecot rebuilt it automatically.
