Q: 10.10.3 Photos

I've experienced this before with iPhotos, but since the release of the new Photos app with OSX 10.10.3, this is the first time I have encountered it.

Using Photos 1.0 (209.52.0) I have a user who just updated from osx 10.8.5 to 10.10.3 and now Photos doesn't show up in the file browser. I have deleted the com.apple.iApps.plist from her Library with no success.

Has anybody else had this issue?

Photos will only show in the Photo Browser in the Media section of the Finder sidebar, if your current Photos Library has been enabled as System Photo Library in the Photos Preferences > General:  Use as System Photo Library.

Otherwise an empty default library will be the system Photo Library, that will not show in the Media Browser.

I'm having a similar issue using OS X 10.10.4 on a macbook air with photos app 1.0.1.  I have the photos library selected as system photo library, but I'm only getting about 135 images in the media browser when trying to attach images to email, websites, etc. I'm using iCloud photo library of which there are over 4000 images.  I've tried everything imaginable trying to get the other 3,800 or so images to populate in the media browser with no luck.  Any other ideas?

If you tried everything imaginable, what is left to suggest?

The usual reason for only a part of the photos showing is iCloud Photo Library.  If you enabled "Optimise Mac Storage", most photos will not show, because they are only in iCloud.

Thanks Leonie!  That help Doc is exactly what I'm seeing.  Can't believe I never stumbled onto it in all the google searching I did on the subject. I will say its a bit frustrating though. Having a 128GB macbook air doesn't make it conducive to store your whole library on the hard drive which is precisely what icloud is supposed to solve.  Its a pretty cumbersome solution to have to go find the photos you want to upload, dowload them to the mac and then go to area you want to attach them.  Anyway, thanks again for sharing the support document!
