May 20, 2015 3:38 PM in response to frankfromdownersgroveby SergZak,If you have a backup that you recently made, you can restore to that backup and hopefully, the note will be contained in that backup. If not, you're pretty much sunk. This is one reason why I have my device's notes and other data NOT sync to all my devices. If may be handy for keeping devices "in sync" but if you make one little mistake, that mistake gets applied to all the devices that your notes are being synced to.

iCloudYou can reset your device to Factory Settings and restore from an iCloud backup that was done before you deleted the Note. If it was very recently, then you would be backing up current data. Make sure that you have imported any photos before doing this, and if you have added any additional notes since that backup occurred, be sure to email them to yourself so you can restore those if they are lost when the backup overwrites the current data on your device.
Best of luck!

May 20, 2015 3:42 PM in response to frankfromdownersgroveby sberman,One addendum to SergZak's response above:
If you use iCloud to back up your iPhone, then Notes are not included in the backup, and your data is permanently gone.

May 20, 2015 3:48 PM in response to sbermanby SergZak,That's good to know @sberman. I don't think I've ever actually used an iCloud backup (I have backed up to it, just never restored from it) and only restore to iTunes backups. Your comment helped me out as well since I didn't know this.

May 20, 2015 4:01 PM in response to sbermanby gail from maine,Yeah - I think I've seen the iCloud backup advice more than once for restoring Notes. But that makes perfect sense, now that I think about it....Like Contacts, Calendars, etc. that stuff is all continuously syncing via iCloud. Thanks for point that out!
frank! Sorry for the bad advice!
Cheers,

Mac OS XThanks everyone for the quick responses. I sync to my Mac Mini and I have Time Machine there. I'll try to go to the last image and see if the good note is there. I'll have to take it off line so iCloud doesn't resync the data deletion.
I'll reply with the results.

Mac OS XWell, now I'm more confused.
I disconnected my Mac Mini from wifi and ethernet.
I went back to yesterday's image in Time Machine.
I opened Notes and the bad note is there.
I don't get it

May 20, 2015 5:24 PM in response to frankfromdownersgroveby sberman,As I think everyone above has tried to say, your iCloud notes are not backed up ... period. They are not saved in Time Machine, as they are not saved on your Mac at the time Time Machine performs its backup.
Although this article does not directly address Time Machine, the section entitled "Your Mail and Notes Data" may help you understand what is happening.

May 22, 2015 4:59 AM in response to sbermanby frankfromdownersgrove,Well, I don't use iCloud backup; but that was an informative article if not confusing.
I backup my iPhone to my Mac Mini, so I could plug in and restore from there. I can try that, I sync wirelessly so it may have backed up the bad Note but it's worth a try.
Im just confused about Time Machine at this point, I guess it doesn't backup Notes as you said so when I went back to the day before image the Notes data was still the messed up data that iCloud synced to my Mini.
Thanks everyone,
Frank

Jan 20, 2016 7:36 AM in response to frankfromdownersgroveby elharks,If you have another idevice, go to that iPhone or iPad and immediately go to Settings and put it in Airplane mode. That will prevent that device from updating Notes from icloud. Then go to Notes on that other device and find that deleted note and copy and paste it elsewhere (Pages document, email draft, etc). Then go back to Settings and turn off Airplane mode. Notes will then update from the iCloud, but you can now restore your "lost" note from the backup document or email draft you just made. This approach saved me recently after an accidental deletion!
