Outgoing mail server: smpt.mail.yahoo.com: (My Account Name)
Three accounts (account type : Yahoo IMAP);
Account #1@sbcglobal.net

Account #3@sbcglobal.net
I have the same problem. It is quit annoying and time consuming. It is recent, having appeared in the last few days.

Mail I delete from Junk returns to my inbox. And activity indicates 27 incoming mail.
I Delete mail from "Junk" folder, it goes to "Trash" folder. I go back to "Junk" folder, the spam emails are back in the "Junk" folder AND are back in my main account folder.
This just started today.
I have quit Mail several times - no help.
I have restarted - no help.
Any ideas what I should do?

I went to Mail preferences, changed some mailbox behaviors, I did NOT save the mailbox behaviors I changed, then I went back to my inbox and deleted the spam.to trash. I emptied Trash, and none of the deleted spam has returned.
So, I do not know exactly what I did, but the problem has been resolved... so far.

- Nope... this did not work/
I read new mail in my inbox.
I delete the mail I just read by selecting the trash can.
The email is now gone from my inbox.
I go to Trash, and the just-deleted email is not listed in the Trash.
I return to my inbox, and the email I tried to delete is there, albeit marked as read.
I repeat the process beginning with deleting the email in my inbox.
After repeatoing this process 4 or 5 times, the email I want to delete is finally gone from my inbox, gone from Trash, gone from Junk.
I then quit Mail... or try to. I have to force quit mail.

Actually you do not. The party that started this posting has an Yahoo account = 3rd party. Therefore, the OP has to deal w/Yahoo tech support. You have an Apple Mail account.
Also, please stick to your original posting to avoid confusion w/the users trying to help. Eric Root has already responded to your original posting.
