My 7th Gen iPod Nano isn't recognised on my mac.

I've restarted it, bought a new cable, tried on a different mac and won't so much as charge. Has anybody else gone through something similar?

I have the latest iTunes and Yosemite.

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
