iMac rejects CD

First, on my iMac music, movie, and data CDs and DVDs will function without any problems. Second, blank DVDs and CD-Rs will function.

However CD-RWs will not function, each time one in inserted iMac will reject it after a spin up. SO, any idea what is going on.

Note: Right after I burned a CD-R with a music file and rejected it, I inserted a CD-RW and the same thing occurred, IMac rejected the CD.

Thanks

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), iMac (20-inch, Early 2008)

What brand of RW discs are these and are -RW discs or +RW discs. In my experiences with disc types to use with Macs, I have found that most Macs like -R/RW type of discs.
