Macbook Pro shuts down half way through startup.

My Macbook Pro when powered on makes the chime sound, then the Apple symbol appears on the screen, and the progress bar appears across the bottom. The progress bar moves across to about 2 cm mark then stops, then the whole thing just shuts down. I've checked and the battery indicator says it's fully charged. I've tried turning on with and without mains power connected. Any ideas?

MacBook Pro, purchased 2/2014 don't know what OS

Hi. Try restarting your Mac in Safe mode:

- Shut down your Mac

- Wait until your computer turns off and after that press the Power button

- Right after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key

- Release the Shift key when you see a grey Apple sign and the progress bar below this sign

- Once you see Desktop, start a Disc Utility scan to detect and repair file system errors (don't forget to choose your main hard drive)

- Click on Verify Disc and then, if asked to fix problems, on Repair Disk

- After this, click on Verify Disc Permissions and then on Repair Disc Permissions

- After the process is finished, shut down your Mac and turn it back on after about 30 seconds

I Had Similer or the same problem... drove me nuts for weeks.. id switch the computer on, it comes up nicely and run for about five to ten minutes,, then, it shuts down.. i reboot several times after and it continues shutting dow.. sometimes it loads half way then shuts down... i keep on powering it on and of for about 20 minutes then i comes back on and stays on with no problems for the rest of the day... the next day same problem.. i tried everything i could find on the net .. nothing worked... the FIX... I have an app on the computer called CleanMyMac 3... this solved the problem for me. i ran the app and went to the uninstall ..removed some unessasary stuff (don't remember what they were) unused apps, junk files, microsft stuff.. computer runs smooth since .. no more start up issues for some weeks now... hope this helps. good luck.
