Anyone else having a problem keeping sync on an interview when importing. Original files supplied to me are MTS. I can play those in VLC and audio is in sync. After import to FCPX they are not. Anyone have any ideas why?

YYou should avoid working with raw mts files. They're for acquidition and delivery only. That said you have to work with what you're given. mts can be a whole lot of things. What is it and where did it come from? It might be best to convert or rewrap the mts to a production format.
Thanks Tom... I was trying to transcode to Pro Res that is when the sync problem occurred. I just made the transcode in After Effects and there are no sync problems. My suspicion is it is a bug in FCPX - or there is something wrong in my system.
At least I now know I can deal with the problem in AFX - sadly there will be others who might not have that luxury.

THe mts files properly imported with their metadata folder structure would be best. Clip Wrap, Edit Ready, Handbrake, ffmpegX can probably all do the conversion, even the host of Chinese ffmpegX knockoffs can do ok work of this.

.mts transcoded files are created with an audio delay.
For those looking to get a better conversion of .mts files try exporting H.264 .mp4 files from Adobe Lightroom.
It seems to do it with less sync delay between picture and sound.
