Q: i have downloaded yosemite if i update the software im unable to do that . its showing me osx could not be installed on your computer . a mismatch between the MBR and GPT partition maps is not supported with this operation.quit the installer

i have downloaded yosemite if i update the software im unable to do that . its showing me osx could not be installed on your computer . a mismatch between the MBR and GPT partition maps is not supported with this operation.quit the installer . what i have to do ?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), pls help

    Can you open Disk Utility, select your hard drive,then look in the bottom right corner, and see if it shows GUID.

    Next select the OS partition and on the lower left does it show Mac OS Extended (Journaled)?

    Did you ever get a backup made?

    I had the same problem... Mismatch between MBR and GPT would not allow Yosemite to be installed. Finally did a Repair Permissions in the disk utility and that cleared up the problem and I was able to install Yosemite.
