Setting Canon LBP-810 printer on OS X (10.4.7)

The LBP-810 used a Canon proprietary printing system that was designed for Windows only. It's not PS or PCL therefore I doubt you will find a workaround to get this printing from your new Mac.

I doubt very much if this will work in OS X. I got worried when the description of the driver on the linuxprinting.org page said -- "the driver talks directly to the USB port."

I took a look at the source code for this driver. The README that accompanies the source code states -- "device should appear (/dev/usb/lp0)". This indicates that the driver wants to send data to a raw USB device. This is not possible in OS X. I don't know whether the driver could be made to work in OS X. There appear to be other criteria in the README for setting up the printer that doesn't look like it can be made to work in OS X.
