I downloaded a movie trailer and want to cut a short 3 second chunk out of it to send to a friend. I can create a "selection" of the part I want, but the "Trim to Selection" option is greyed out in the menu. How do I get this to work?
MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)
Its simplest to do this with Quicktime Player. Open the movie with Quicktime Player and got to help > trim a movie or clip.
With iMovie you have to create a movie project, drag the movie into the timeline, trim, then share to file.
