What is PB memory?

Since one of the last updates on my MacBook Pro, the "available disk space" shows as PB. Right now, it says I have 3.8 PB available. What does that mean? It also seems to randomly change to TB, as well. But, when it does change to TB it is wrong. I have about 300 Gigs available [to the best of my knowledge].

I'm running OSX Yosemite 10.10.3 with 16GB ram, 2.5 GHZ intel Core i7, and i have a SSD internal drive.

Anyone else having this problem? It seems to have started about 3 months ago.....after an update.

A PB (Petabyte) is 1000 TB. It would appear that you still have enormous storage at your disposal. 😁

Clearly that is a bug in the Yosemite OSX.

From the menu bar, select

 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Time Machine

If there is a closed padlock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane, click it to unlock the settings and authenticate. Turn Time Machine OFF, then back ON. Close the window.

Restart the computer.

i didn't have the padlock [not even an icon] but i did turn time machine off and on and it worked! thanks so much.
