why haven't my songs synced from mac to iPhone?

i have iTunes match, an up-to-date mac mini, and an up-to-date iPhone 5. i added songs to the mini from a cd. days later they haven't shown up on my iPhone. what could be the reason? is there any way to troubleshoot?

generally, iTunes match is working properly.
