I think I did get rid of that box when I repaired premissions.  I play a game, SuperCity  and one of the players keeps telling me to clean out my Flash Player.  That is why I clicked on Spotlight, to see if I could find Flash Player.  According to Apple, I don't even have it, but she saying it, and she says that she has an iMac.  Do I ever feel DUMB about this!!  How do I go about finding out if I have Flash Player, or not??

Flash Player is an Adobe product and widely used on the web and has been updated many times (and continues to do so) As a result you may see instances where a pop up or window tells you to update.

The inherent problem with this is since Flash is commonly used on the web for games and videos and the like it's not uncommon for someone to try to trick you into downloading what they are telling you is flash, but it's something hidden in an installer that could be malicious.

Now that I've hopefully "admonished" you on flash 101 there is one source to download the legitimate flash and one source only, Adobe's website.

    https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

if you need flash cleaned (I'm not sure what they're talking about btw) I'd tell you to update it which should make it compatible with any current flash enabled things you do on the web. Use the link above, and install. The installer should automatically recognized and approved through Apples internal security (gatekeeper) so you would need your user name and password to install. If the gatekeeper said it was unable to recognize the developer theres a chance you got the installer from somewhere other than Adobe. In which case throw it out and use the link.

I can't stress enough only download this from Adobe and there may be instances you need to update it a few times a year, thats normal.

    Hard drive level Library/Internet Plugins.

Check System Preferences to see if the Flash Player Preference pane is there.

    User Library/Internet Plugins.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library.
