Prevent App Store automatic launch at startup

I am looking for a way to prevent App Store from automatically launching at startup (Mac OS X 10.8.5) on my Macbook Pro. It is very annoying.

App Store-OTHER, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Make sure the App Store isn't running when you restart. If it's not, and you still have it opening at login...

Hold Control and click your App Store icon on your dock. Go to Options. Is there a checkmark beside "Open at Login"? If so, uncheck it. If you don't have a dock icon for the App Store, click the Apple >> System Preferences >> Users and Groups >> Login Items. Make sure the App Store isn't listed here.
