How to install OS X Mountain Lion without the disk or backup?

Hi, I have recently changed the hard drive of my 2013 Macbook Pro. How can I install OS X without having the disk or backup? I tried the internet recovery and it asks me to choose a disk in order to install.. Could anyone help please?

Did you boot the MBP with the OPTION + COMMAND + R keys?

If so, you should see a display with a revolving globe.

By following the directions, you will be connected to the Apple servers.

You should see a 4 option menu.

First select Disk Utility.

Format the new HDD using Disk Utility>=Erase to Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

Then exit Disk Utility and select to install the OSX from the 4 option menu.

A solid Internet connection will be required.

What is the status of the original HDD?

Ciao.

Do you have the disks that came with your computer or a Snow Leopard DVD? If so, boot off the disk, preferably Snow Leopard, and format the drive as OGELTHORPE posted. Install an OS. Upgrade to 10.6.8, then go to the App Store and download Mountain Lion from your Purchases tab.

10.6.8 Combo Updater

The last MBPs that came with Snow leopard were early 2011 models. The OP states his is a 2013.

Ciao.
