Q: Photos Won't Import: "Database error: failed to persist version"

Hello everyone. I'm importing all my photos into Photos for OS X, and mostly loving it. I've been exporting my albums from Aperture into a folder, then importing into Photos. Worked fine for the first few days, automatically uploaded to iCloud, everything synced to all my other devices, great.

In the last couple days, anything I import comes up with this error:

"Database error: failed to persist version"

Photos seems to think these photographs are not valid files, though they are. I get the preview in Finder, I can open them in Preview and any other image application.  The files that didn't work initially were JPEG from a Nikon D700 so I figured it was something specific with that camera, but then I tried importing files from a D300 that previously worked a few days ago, and now they don't.

I've tried:

  • Processing them with JPEGmini first
  • Exporting from Aperture again (both originals and versions)
  • Importing into particular albums, rather than just importing
  • Restarting machine

OS X 10.10.3, all updates applied.  What the what? Anyone have a similar problem? Thanks!
