Playing videos from laptop or iphone using airplay to apple TV doesn't work

I will have a video that I'm viewing on the web that will play fine on my iPhone or Laptop, but as soon as I click on the Air Play icon and send it to my family room Apple TV, the video doesn't play. Does anyone have a fix for this?
