uninstall xcode 6 plus additional hidden content

i am trying to uninstall Xcode 6 on yosemite

when i delete the application from the applications folder, either my manually moving to trash and emptying trash or my holding option in launchpad and clicking the little x button, the app gets removed but I only save 3Gb of the original 5Gb that app took up

i'm assuming xcode installs other content somewhere else in the system and then has symlinks inside the Xcode app itself to that content, but the content doesn't get removed when you remove the app

where is this additional content and how can i remove it?
