I recently inherited a ipad. The contents have been erased, but the ipad is still linked to my deceased Grandad's Apple ID. The instructions for accessing the device:

all involve contacting the previous owner, which is clearly no longer possible.
How can I unlink the ipad from my Grandad's account?

You will have to take the iPad to an Apple Store together with a copy of the death certificate and the original purchase documents.
Thanks. Does that work with Apple resellers too? I live in Qatar, and there are no Apple Stores here.
I'm afraid I don't know, but I suspect not. The only other alternative may be to send the iPad to Apple - you would need to contact them first to find out whether they are willing to accept this. Failing all this, I'm afraid the iPad is useless.
