Upgraded to Yosemite and no iPhoto photos anymore! How do I find my photos and put them in the new photo program?

when I upgraded to Yosemite, my photos did not transfer: how can I recover them ?

Launch Photos with the Option key held down, click on Other Library, and choose the correct one.

Thanks Niel - when I tried that the icon for iphoto was not highlighted/lit up and would not let me click on it. Any other suggestions or hints?
