Just got new IMAC and transferred info from old. Now I want to remove all info from old and recycle. How do I do that

Is the iMac running Lion or later.. or Snow Leopard or earlier..
All units with Lion and later should have recovery partitions.. you can then recover your OS after wiping the drive.
All units with SL or with original OS disks.. and a DVD drive.. simply load in the OS and reboot the machine from the disk.. and then wipe the existing drive from disk utility when it comes up.
