Morning.
Have had an issue where attempting to open a recent download. Was informed that only Apple apps had permission to open. Went to Security and Privacy, double clicked the lock, entered the correct password and it refuses to open.
Can anyone assist please.

The correct password is your login password (which must be non-empty.) Is that what you entered?

I don't actually have a password for logging into the machine, so have used the same premise when relating to the security password request.
Attempted to input a couple of other passwords that I have, but got back the shaky screen thing....(if that makes sense...)
When attempting without a password, it looks like it is attempting to open and then immediately stops itself.

You must set a non-empty login password in the Users & Groups preference pane in order to unlock the Security & Privacy pane.
