Q: How can I update my iPad from 5.1.1 to 7iPad

If you have a first generation iPad, then you will not be able to update it past iOS 5.1.1. If you have attempted to update it and it says that it is up to date, then that is what you have.

If you have the 1st generation iPad, you cannot update past IOS 5.1.1.

Key in your iPad serial number found in Settings > General > About > Serial Number

and post back.

An easier way is if your iPad does not have a camera then you certainly have the 1st generation.

Yes it does. The first generation iPad can not be updated past iOS 5.1.1. The exact same answer as back in May, when the question was marked as solved.
