I activated an old iphone 4 on my att account they put in a new sim card and its not working, I got a message "ACTIVATION ERROR" "ACTIVATION REQUEST COULD NOT BE COMPLETED IF THE PROBLEM PERSIST, PLEASE CONTACT CUSTOMER CARE." what do I do? The att rep said he could not help with this problem.

Where did you get this old iPhone 4? Is it possible this device may have been jailbroken at one time? Is it possible this device was blacklisted by a carrier? Have you used that computer to jailbreak a phone in the past?
verify if your iPhone4 belongs to unlocked or locked version. If its locked, you can active only using the sim card by following carrier.

If you received the same error, then you need to contact Apple Support. There is some issue with the activation of your device. If you received a different error, then please post the exact wording of the error.
