Problem inserting shape

I am having trouble inserting curved lines in Pages 5.5.3 (Yosemite). When I insert the line and try to adjust its size and placement, I'm only able to move one side of the line. I am having the exact same problem when I use Pages on my iPad. Does anyone know of a fix? Thanks!
