I'm trying to partition my MacBook Pro using Boot Camp.
I have a Windows 8.1 ISO on my Mac and I've read the steps to complete this process but what I need to know is should the Windows 8.1 ISO be on my flash drive or on my desktop before I commence?

Your ISO must not be open and should be in a folder/directory that BCA can get to. BCA will erase the USB (it must be a USB2 flash disk) and copy the BC Drivers and the contents of the ISO to the USB and make it bootable. Disconnect all other external storage and USB hubs.

Thats the point of my question, where is the best folder/directory that BCA can get to? Is there a default location or will BCA find it as long as it's on my Mac?
BCA does not have a default directory. Typically, it is easiest to put the ISO on the Desktop and when the BCA prompts for it, dragging the file into the box. The screen should be similar to the following.
