Why can't you stream audio using Remote?

Using my home wifi I can control Itunes with remote from my phone or Ipod why can't we get the audio with it? It would allow you to move around your entire home with the same playing on your device as in the main room. I use Iphone 6 old 3GS and Ipod touch 1st gen my media and Itunes run on a windows7 machine:(
