Ipod touch home button and lock button quit working. Help!

My ipod touch 5c has ios 8 on it. My home button quit working and it was like it was sunken down, so I used assessive touch. A couple days ago when I tried to use my lock button it wouldn't work. I tried plugging it up to the charger to see if the screen would pop up but it didn't. This has happened once before and it came back on after a few days and said it was dead so I plugged it up and it worked fine. It has been about a week this time and it has done nothing. Is there any way to reset it without holding the home and lock button? Is there any way to get my lock button working again? Please help!
