Why is iPhoto not available for my Mac book Pro?

I have a 2012 MacBookPro Retina running 10.10.3. Apple says iPhoto is not available for my laptop. Why not?

iPad 2, iOS 5.0.1

Hi Steve. iPhoto has been replaced by Photos. This came as a result of the Yosemite upgrade and subsequent software updates. Photos icon appeared in my dock to replace the "missing" iPhoto icon. When I launched Photos the content of my iPhoto migrated to Photos. Launchpad still shows the iPhoto icon but a dialog box appears requesting a library selection. Photos on the laptop now looks a lot like the mobile version. If your dock does not show Photos it should be in your app folder. Hope this helps -- Jim
