I downloaded the iCloud app to both my Samsung tablet and my Android phone and both are giving me an HTTP: error 401 unauthorized message when I try to log in. What do I need to do to get logged in to my iCloud calendar app?

There is no iCloud app for Android: the iOS app won't run on it. You can get some iCloud functionality with the two SmoothSync apps:

and you can set up iCloud mail like any other mail service using the settings in this page:
You won't be able to use the other facilities such as PhotoStream or Find My iPhone (though Android has its own version of that).
Thanks Roger...it is the SmoothSync (calendar) app from the Google Play Store that is giving me the error. I have been trying to get information from the app store as well, but am having no luck.
You won't get any help from the iTunes App Store, it has no connection with Android at all. Smoothsync should be able to access your account simply with the account name and password (as long as you haven't set up 2-step authentication); there is a Help page accessible from the settings within the app. Also the Play Store page says:

Please note that there is a new issue in Android 4.4: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=66905
It causes accounts to be removed when an app is updated. Installing the workaround app should help.
