Call History showing up on another iPhone

Hi,

Hopefully you can help.

I use my phone for business and we have noticed in the last few days that all of the calls I make and receive are appearing in my wife's iPhone recent call history?

I have hunted high and low in settings on both phones but with no joy.

It is only affecting calls i make, not the other way round? so i am not seeing calls my wife makes on her phone in my recent call history?

It is also not affecting text messages...

We are both using the same iCloud account but the inconsistencies above suggest its something more involved (or very simple!)

The slightly odd thing is that it only seems to do it when my phone is at home, i went out this afternoon and the calls made/received have not appeared on her history. so maybe its a wifi thing?...but...

I also phoned vodafone when i got home to see if they could help (they couldn't!) and that short dial number is also not appearing on her history?

Yes me is two separate people with different names, numbers and emails. Why would I create a separate accounts when we have had iPhones for 5 years with no problems before? This thread is on page 126 on my phone, that has been mentioned ad nauseum. I want the phones to work like they have the last 5 years.

Yep. It is within FaceTime that the virtual connection between an Apple ID and a phone number is made.

You can term it a bug if you wish. It is intended behaviour that allows the end-to-end system to work. The oft given suggestion to use separate Apple IDs is the best way to avoid this, but you have every right to use your Apple Ids as you see fit. Turning off FaceTime is another way. Apple has the point of view that their users will not share Apple IDs now that Apple IDs have become defacto phone numbers. We used to have shared party lines in the early days of the phone. That ended for the most part. I hear there are some rural areas of the the US and Canada that still have them

You should all provide the feedback to Apple to let them know how many users are affected by this, so they can consider changing the way it works.

Not everything is a bug or a conspiracy.

Shutting off Facetime is not the 'correct' thing to do. There is no answer for this problem if people are using the same itunes id for theri

phones. And the reason why some may chose to do so is because of keeping the back up and recovery on the same account when purchasing

extra storage capacity and sharing music. If you have a positive

reply make it. There are plenty of people here who have a high degree of user knowledge that have also went fore and aft to help out with this problem, and are also stymied.

I did not have this problem before the latest iOS iteration, but I have it now as many others have noted. And no one has every accused Apple of some conspiracy, but have referred to it as a bug, which it is, IT IS A BUG, an annoyance, an unexpected result, an unintended user "function". an inexpiable gap, an unanticipated user function. You want to argue semantics for have the problem fixed. Or do you like to argue for the sake of arguing? This problem

did not exist before now it does I think most people just want to shut off the call history without having to shut off functionality.

Or, it's a change that Apple introduced. On purpose.

yeah... that's me. You caught me. I should go away and think about what I have done. Thanks for setting me straight friend. This is why we can't have nice things.

Developers rarely document every change and tweak in their releases. As Meg hints at... maybe it's a purposeful change. There are numerous, reasonable methods to deal with these issues. And ways to allow Apple IDs to share content.

How does applying your label of choice to this issue help? Does that somehow raise this thread's position and establish credibility?

My personal frustration with these points of view is that it has been established the issue is real. It's clear there are dozens of users disappointed in Apple. Also easy to grasp is how you want it "fixed" Have I missed anything?

Points made. Feedback channel offered. You have a touch point to use. This community is provided by the host as a way to exchange technical support. It is not where Apple comes to find issues in search of a solution. These long running threads serve no real purpose with regards to resolving the issue. Workarounds, fixes, kludges have been offered and discussed ad nauseum.
