Q: My recent calls appearing on another iPhone!?

Hi,

Hopefully you can help.

I use my phone for business and we have noticed in the last few days that all of the calls I make and receive are appearing in my wife's iPhone recent call history?

I have hunted high and low in settings on both phones but with no joy.

It is only affecting calls i make, not the other way round? so i am not seeing calls my wife makes on her phone in my recent call history?

It is also not affecting text messages...

We are both using the same iCloud account but the inconsistencies above suggest its something more involved (or very simple!)

The slightly odd thing is that it only seems to do it when my phone is at home, i went out this afternoon and the calls made/received have not appeared on her history. so maybe its a wifi thing?...but...

I also phoned vodafone when i got home to see if they could help (they couldn't!) and that short dial number is also not appearing on her history?

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.3

I may have found the problem. It has to do with caller ID's.....  I use AT&T and have two iPhones on my account. One for me and another for my girlfriend. We also use the same apple ID. I have been noticing recent calls listed on my iPhone that were from her iPhone. This never occurred previously, and there seems to be no solution other than getting separate apple ID"s which is not an option for me. So...........I logged into my AT&T account, went to profile/ account users/ then hit the plus sign for my girlfriends cell phone number. My name was incorrectly listed as her caller ID. I changed her ID to Moo Moo (seemed like a good name to me) and I no longer get her calls listed in my recent call list. She still has the wrong ID but at least I get a laugh and don't get Moo Moo's calls listed any more.

I'm on iOS 9.2xI think and there's an option.... settings/ phone/ calls on other devices,

it  it lists all the phones on your account and it Allows you to enable or disable sharing call

turn it off for your wife's phone and you're good to go,,  I think !

I do see that feature, but that feature is turned completely off on all are phones. I think its something with the new iOS 9 release like the apple rep told me. I had the same problem with Verizon iPhones and just recently switchled to T-mobile iPhones and have the same problem with all calls showing up on all devices that are using the same iCloud login. I guess Apple can only fix it, hopefully they screen these posts. Thanks follow the help.

The *best* fix is (arguably) to use separate AppleIDs.

Apple IDs have become like phone numbers. Not easily shared.

For recent call lists, turning off iCloud Drive has worked for some.

I own two iPhone's and an iPad so initially when I got a call it was like a mad house with all three ringing! i didn't know which to grab first until I found this option and disabled it and that worked for me! sorry if it don't work for you... I tried! Oh and BTW I'm fairly sure it only works if your devices are all on the same WiFi network, just a thought... It might be necessary for you to be on your network with both devices to alter the settings,

I don't believe that is the problem for me. I had Verizon when I saw the problem with iOS 9 update. Now I switched to T-mobile and with iOS 9 and have the same problem. I did check the profile settings on my new account with T-mobile and every phone has different name assigned to it. According to Apple rep this problem is a result of iOS 9. I see many people posting well don't use the same Apple ID then or use the family sharing option. We use the same Apple ID for the sole purpose of tracking all four iPhones using the find my iPhone app. Family sharing will allow all family members to see each others location which we don't want out kids t see. Me and wife just want to see our kids location. If there is away to do this like we have for years previously until this new iOS update please let me know. Thanks for the help.

Its quite irritating actually, I read somewhere that the problem remediates if you switch off iCloud Drive on both phones. Anyone try it ?

    Thanks,

OK this is what I did and it fixed the issue for me. Got to settings, phone, calls on other devices. "allow calls on other devices" was turned off already on mine. So I turnd it on and it will bring up all the devices below that are signed into your icloud account. When i did this for some reaeon all my device were enabled (green button highlighted). So I turned all those devices off each. Then go to the top and turn off the main one "allow calls on other devices". When I did that it fixed this issue for me no more mixed call logs on all my devices signed into same iCloud account.

Ok the only solution for me (I tried iMessage, respond to other devices etc - no success) - I switch off the iCloud drive on my wife phone - I called Apple already.

We choose to have one ID. I am aware of fammylly otions etc. But having one ID is more connient for us and it is good to have this option. This recent bug appered in the last 2 months.

True, havin one ID can lead to some complications, but the iOS allows us to assign each devices with different ID - I use my phone number for my phone, My wifes for my wife iphone, my mail for the iPad etc. Thus I can reroute and organize all my devices under same Apple ID - it doesn't work for iMessage tough - I have to switch it off and use simple messaging.

It is not a bug. It is a direct result of your choosing to use them in a manner other than that which is recommended.

One iCloud ID per user. It's not just Apple's 'opinion' of how it's supposed to work...
