Q: My recent calls appearing on another iPhone!?

Hi,

Hopefully you can help.

I use my phone for business and we have noticed in the last few days that all of the calls I make and receive are appearing in my wife's iPhone recent call history?

I have hunted high and low in settings on both phones but with no joy.

It is only affecting calls i make, not the other way round? so i am not seeing calls my wife makes on her phone in my recent call history?

It is also not affecting text messages...

We are both using the same iCloud account but the inconsistencies above suggest its something more involved (or very simple!)

The slightly odd thing is that it only seems to do it when my phone is at home, i went out this afternoon and the calls made/received have not appeared on her history. so maybe its a wifi thing?...but...

I also phoned vodafone when i got home to see if they could help (they couldn't!) and that short dial number is also not appearing on her history?

Calls on other devices is part of 'continuity / handoff'. It allows you to answer calls on any Mac or iOS device signed in with the same iCloud account. For example, if you call me, I can answer the call using my Mac, or iPad instead of picking up my phone. I can also place calls from my Mac via the cellular service on my phone if I like. It comes in handy, especially when I'm working and would prefer to have the call on speaker anyway.

When you get a call or a msg on one device you can answer it on an other device. So all our stuff will be ring at the same time,

I too have facetime turned off on both phones and the calls keep showing up on both. But it only goes one way. Meaning my personal iPhone calls are showing up on my work iPhone but not visa versa. Very frustrated apple owner am I. Yoda

This is utter BS Apple. You have no idea the agony this glitch has caused me. I gave my old IPhone 5 to my daughter. She is currently visiting her father in NY and I'm in Dubai. We are divorced and  are not on speaking terms AT ALL!!  All of a sudden I see a plethora of calls from "Baby Daddy" (that's how my daughter saved him on my new phone-don't ask). Not only did I receive calls from him, I CALLED HIM MYSELF and according to the phone records, FOR QUITE SOME TIME. I start freaking out. "Am I sleep calling?" "Is someone playing an evil trick on me?" "Has someone tapped into my phone and is fiddling with my call records?"  I do a Google search and find this forum. Nothing sounds familiar except two phones sharing call history. We don't share APPLE ID, she has her own, BUT SHE IS USING MY OLD PHONE.  I take a screenshot of my call history and send it to her to confirm if she indeed made these calls to her father.  I ask her to send me a screenshot of her calls.  Sure enough, calls I made here in Dubai were on her phone and calls she made in NY were on my phone ALL THE WAY HERE IN DUBAI!!!! This is totally unacceptable.  I was about to call him and see if he was playing games.  THIS MUST BE FIXED!!!! This caused me sleepless nights trying to figure it out.  Charging so much for your products, I'm sure you could find some spare change to fix this glitch!!!!

While she has her own ID, clearly she is still signed into YOUR iCloud. Have her sign out of iCloud and sign back in under her ID.  Currently, if she's using her ID at all it is just for purchases, not iCloud.

I too have the same problem that has only just come to light. I recently changed my email address and since changing on all devices we all now see call history. We use iPhones as business phones, so I set up all in my network with my apple ID so I can track the handsets using Find my iPhone. To set up an individual apple ID for each user for just this is ridiculous and would mean logging in and out to check each handset. Why is something that is related to the phone calls connected to the apple ID? this should be associated to the SIM card and or mobile carrier. Can anyone help?

No. No one here can help. We are not Apple. This is a user forum.

Not at all.  For this situation you can either use Find My Friends to keep track of all your iOS devices that have different IDs, or set up Family Sharing such that your business phones are "children" to your primary ID, then you can use Find My iPhone to see them all.

The same has been happening to me. Turning off Wifi Calling, turned off Calls on Other Devices, Turned off Handoff etc. It went away but came back yesterday again after working. I found another post about Facetime and Use your Apple ID for Facetime so I turned it off too. Waiting to see if that works.

The only way to be certain it won't happen is to stop sharing Apple IDs.

Well I turned it all off (facetime and messages) on the two phones that show shared data and it still shares phone calls. I have 5 iphones and two ipads and three computers all sharing Apple ID's. This has not been a problem on all phones. This occurred for the first time a couple of months ago. Than I found out about some of the suggestions listed here and it seemed to work but it came back a short while later. At that time I reset my phone to an older backup and it worked. Now it came back around 3 days ago (at least when I noticed it). So before that all my phones had all shared Apple ID's and there were no issues. So to just say not to share Apple ID's is simplistic and not really correcting the actual problem.

Apple needs a fix. Class action anyone? Invasion of privacy? Apple should care.

Sharing ID's is a bad idea, and not recommended by the manufacturer, ignore their recommendation at your own risk and your Class Action is also at risk.

Best of luck when you admit using the same credentials on two unique devices against the manufacturer's direction.

Invasion of Privacy? When you knowingly, willingly share the same credentials with another device? You are compromising your own privacy.

Apple has provided a reasonable solution to the sharing of purchased content in Family Sharing.

Look i drank the Kool-aid years ago too. You don't have to stick up for Apple more than I do. However this is something new. I have had iphones since day 1 and they have always had the same Apple ID since day one. Why is it only now that there are issues? Something changed and Apple needs to fix it. Period!
