Q: My recent calls appearing on another iPhone!?

Hi,

Hopefully you can help.

I use my phone for business and we have noticed in the last few days that all of the calls I make and receive are appearing in my wife's iPhone recent call history?

I have hunted high and low in settings on both phones but with no joy.

It is only affecting calls i make, not the other way round? so i am not seeing calls my wife makes on her phone in my recent call history?

It is also not affecting text messages...

We are both using the same iCloud account but the inconsistencies above suggest its something more involved (or very simple!)

The slightly odd thing is that it only seems to do it when my phone is at home, i went out this afternoon and the calls made/received have not appeared on her history. so maybe its a wifi thing?...but...

I also phoned vodafone when i got home to see if they could help (they couldn't!) and that short dial number is also not appearing on her history?

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.3

the fix is to not sign in to multiple iPhones with the same Apple ID. This is not supported or recommended use. Apple will tell you the same. If you like sharing your iTunes and App Store purchases, sign up for the Family Sharing plan.

Yup. I called. The official word is that you are not supposed to use the same iCloud account for two people. That's not supported.

FYI we share icloud because it allows us to have a synchronized calendar, "find my iphone" and contacts under the same account.  But this **** is weird.  If I find anything, I'll share it here.

It's ALWAYS a mistake to share an Apple ID.

Check out Family Sharing.  Among other things, it allows you and your wife to have your own personal calendar(s) AND a calendar that you both share AND "Find my iPhone" allows both of you to find both phones.  Contacts are separate but you can always transmit vcards to each other.

This is such a basic issue, there is no need for such a document.  There also is no actual Apple document that says "Do not run through dishwasher."

Quite simply, that's a flat out lie.

Just do whatever you want, it's entirely up to you how you use your stuff.

Personally I don't care if he/she runs it through the dishwasher.  After all, there is no Apple document that says not to do it.

All of you guys are taking this super super seriously. There is a fix to resolve the issue and you will not lose any functionality. Don't take it personally, but sharing your Apple ID/iCloud Account just isn't something Apple recommends, and you may run into trouble by doing it.

Why are all freaking out and attacking everyone that's providing you with the answer you're looking for?

I just can't believe this total BS.

Just for the record, the following is a C&P from Apple's Apple ID FAQs.  Gee, it's exactly what we have been trying to tell this individual.

Can I share my Apple ID with someone else?

You shouldn't share your Apple ID with anyone else. It provides access to personal information including contacts, photos, device backups, and more. Sharing your Apple ID with someone else means you're giving them access to all your personal content, and it may lead to confusion about who actually owns the account.

To share photos, a calendar, iTunes purchases and more with someone else, try these sharing features.
