Q: My recent calls appearing on another iPhone!?

Hi,

Hopefully you can help.

I use my phone for business and we have noticed in the last few days that all of the calls I make and receive are appearing in my wife's iPhone recent call history?

I have hunted high and low in settings on both phones but with no joy.

It is only affecting calls i make, not the other way round? so i am not seeing calls my wife makes on her phone in my recent call history?

It is also not affecting text messages...

We are both using the same iCloud account but the inconsistencies above suggest its something more involved (or very simple!)

The slightly odd thing is that it only seems to do it when my phone is at home, i went out this afternoon and the calls made/received have not appeared on her history. so maybe its a wifi thing?...but...

I also phoned vodafone when i got home to see if they could help (they couldn't!) and that short dial number is also not appearing on her history?

Double negatives make for difficult reading, state it again simply. What is it you want.

You can certainly use one Apple ID for both devices. I use one Apple ID for an iPhone, an MBA and two iPads. The idea behind using one Apple ID is that your data (contacts, calendars, call history, call blocks and an number of other things) will be synced across all devices. Many of us consider this a good thing.

People keep ranting the same thing about 'Calls lists being synced between devices". This is not done. Never. and this is NOT the problem.

What is happening if you have used the same Apple ID on your devices is that SOME of the calls in your call lists from SOME of the devices using the same Apple ID appear on more than one device. It is completely random, certain calls appear on some, all or only one of the devices. The mirroring of calls of certain devices happens OCCASIONALLY, Not always. And it is most certainly NOT synced. It is at random, with no pattern, and no rule whatsoever for certain calls (and most of the time none of the calls appear on more than one device). And lastly, it IS a bug.

Please don't comment unless you've actually experienced the problem and know what the bug actually is. And to repeat for the zillinth time - Recent Calls Lists are NOT being synced between devices. So stop claiming this over and over when you don't even know what the issue is.

I don't believe I was addressing you. Or, necessarily your issue. Unless and until the Hosts tell me I've contravened the TOU, I will continue to post as I see fit.

    Thank you for your concern.

You are free to post as you wish. But saying a statement like "Recent Call Lists are synced between devices and this is the way it should be." Is firstly unsubstantiated - because in fact it never happens as I have explained above.

Who are you to tell people what they should do, such arrogance.

Is it possible that the device you pick the call up on is the one that has the "random" number (as well as the device whose number was called)?

CSound1 , its not arrogance at all, but more frustration. That people don't know the actual problem, they assume that they know.

If the Recent Calls lists were being synced between devices, then fine. I'd understand why Apple has done this. But it actually isn't that way at all.

If I've offended you, or someone else, I'm truly sorry, not my intention at all. I only want this issue solved, nothing more. No need to take things personally!

@robdinoto: Unfortunately, there is no solution, neither to switch it off, nor to have a complete sync. Someone wrote a few weeks ago, that this has been solved with one of the current betas, but there is no proof until now from others. Just skip some of the other postings, which are not helpfull.

    Hi

I have one phone and one ipad each for work and personal use.  4 devices total and a single user.  All the calls are being synced up between the devices.  It is not optimal, I can't have 4 apple IDs for each device.

    Hi,

It is not possible to pickup the call on the different phone.  In order to test out, I cleaned out all the call lists on all four devices, 2 iphones and 2 ipads.  After 3-4 hours, I got a notification of a missed call on my personal iphone.  This missed call was from my work iphone and was received three days ago.

So I would support the thesis that this is random.
