Q: My recent calls appearing on another iPhone!?

Hi,

Hopefully you can help.

I use my phone for business and we have noticed in the last few days that all of the calls I make and receive are appearing in my wife's iPhone recent call history?

I have hunted high and low in settings on both phones but with no joy.

It is only affecting calls i make, not the other way round? so i am not seeing calls my wife makes on her phone in my recent call history?

It is also not affecting text messages...

We are both using the same iCloud account but the inconsistencies above suggest its something more involved (or very simple!)

The slightly odd thing is that it only seems to do it when my phone is at home, i went out this afternoon and the calls made/received have not appeared on her history. so maybe its a wifi thing?...but...

I also phoned vodafone when i got home to see if they could help (they couldn't!) and that short dial number is also not appearing on her history?

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.3

I've found no place in apple websites where they say it's a nice feature...

curiosity: do you work in apple?

There are 4 things that use the Apple ID:

    1. iCloud
    2. Apps and ITunes Stores
    3. Messages
    4. FaceTime

Do you have both yours and your wife's phone logged into the same AppleID for FaceTime?

I am 1 user.  I have 2 phones.  I don't want both phones to share a call log.

I suspect it's a bug. Or, worse, apple is not mentioning de facto their intention to implicitely limit no. of devices that can share apps paying only once.

How does that limit the number of devices that can share apps? You just connect two or more Apple IDs using Family Sharing and you can share apps among those Apple IDs. Too bad about GoodNotes, but Evernote does not have that problem; you can share notes across any number of accounts, even non-iCloud accounts. And with Family Sharing you can each have your own calendar, plus one or more shared calendars.

this "feature" (as apple's friends call it) is very annoying, because you cannot share anymore icloud drive content with members of your family (with same appleid) otherwise you get same calls register (on normal phone calls)

apple probably now wants to limit number of people who can get free access to purchased apps by forcing them to use family share (that has maximum 6 free acesses)

    poor steve jobs...

This is driving me nuts, really. I have 2 phones, one for business and one for personal purposes, and I share the ID because I want to share the calendars, notes and passwords, and not the freaking call list.

I tried everything: disabled handoff, disabled face time, restored the phone through back up. I went to the genius bar and the person helping me couldn't figure it out either and suggested I restored the phone as a new phone. I did.

Guess what? It didn't work. I probably am going to switch to Google soon.

The Jobs Corollary has been invoked.

Yep, that means the discussion has ended. The irony, oh, the irony! It was he who said that he knows better what users want than they do themselves.

Here is how you turn off same recent call history on different iPhones. Settings-----mail,contacts,calendars----contacts found in mail -----set to off.  It fixed my problem.
