Q: My recent calls appearing on another iPhone!?

Hi,

Hopefully you can help.

I use my phone for business and we have noticed in the last few days that all of the calls I make and receive are appearing in my wife's iPhone recent call history?

I have hunted high and low in settings on both phones but with no joy.

It is only affecting calls i make, not the other way round? so i am not seeing calls my wife makes on her phone in my recent call history?

It is also not affecting text messages...

We are both using the same iCloud account but the inconsistencies above suggest its something more involved (or very simple!)

The slightly odd thing is that it only seems to do it when my phone is at home, i went out this afternoon and the calls made/received have not appeared on her history. so maybe its a wifi thing?...but...

I also phoned vodafone when i got home to see if they could help (they couldn't!) and that short dial number is also not appearing on her history?

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.3

You can play "Philadelphia lawyer" all you wish but the fact remains that it is always a mistake to share Apple IDs between or among two or more persons.  Just because you weren't bit last month does not mean that  you won't get bitten next month.

Thanks..  but you missed what I said.  I'm not 'sharing'.  They're both mine.  Just me.

It is also recommended that you use the same ID for store purchases and iCloud access.  Did you miss that?

Being as how that is EXACTLY WHAT I POSTED IN MY FIRST POST I'm assuming that no, I didn't miss that.

I want to know that, since I'm using this same ID as recommended by Apple, my call lists are suddenly being mixed between my two devices.

Perhaps you should have stated that.

Are you planning on offering something to this discussion, or do you plan on simply running around in circles, padding your post count?

During the past week I began having the issue posted in this thread.  I read through 40 pages of mostly condescending and arrogant posts that all basically said "Shame on you for sharing your ID.  Now you get what you deserve." However I'm not sharing..  I'm the same person to both of my devices.  In fact, when I setup these devices, I was recommended by Apple to share the ID!  Is that clearer?

No.  Actually you've muddied the waters.

Where are you seeing a 'post' count?

I didn't.  I see a lot of points, but no substance.  In that same vein you have offered nothing to this conversation as well, extending it for yet another off topic post.  I promise, to those of you counting, that this will be the last response to an off topic post.

I am, however, still curious to hear thoughts on this. I do not feel that I am sharing my ID as I am, indeed, only one person. Accordingly I'm recommended to use the same ID across my devices.  But my phones are, apparently, no longer distinct.  Why is my call list being attached to my ID, and not the individual phone, in the first place?

    Then what does that mean?

Only Apple could answer that question and they do not participate here.

Post count is a meaningless number here. Points are awarded to people who give answers that are considered correct or helpful. But only the original poster in a thread can award them.

Thanks Meg.  I understand that.  I'm hoping for, simply, some dialogue amongst users that Apple could potentially use as feedback.  That's all.  I do not believe that the call list should belong to the ID, but should belong to the phone. Apple seems to believe otherwise and I'm curious to hear what others think of this.  Perhaps one of you knows something I don't know.

And don't get hung up on the 'post count' comment. That's just an old-world term I use to describe people who are posting simply to see themselves post, adding nothing to the current thread.

Is it always your way to use insult in your posts?

Insult rather than argument is a childish method of discourse.

    Good luck with your quest.

Apple doesn't read here for feedback so there really wouldn't be much point to that. If you want Apple to have your feedback, use the feedback link:

    http://www.apple.com/feedback

And your "post count' comment was very rude to someone who has helped a lot of people here. If you're not interested in what someone has to say, don't read their posts.

Thank you.  I've been told that Apple occasionally peruses these and develops "broader-scale" ideas from some of the trends discussed here. If not then, you are correct:  There really isn't much of a point to posting anything here.

I'm sorry you all got hung up on the post count thing.  Meg was the only one who responded to my original post.  The other two, in the course of 7 responses, said nothing of worth at all.  Of course I'm going to read the responses:  They're what I'm attempting to elicit.  However, if one has nothing to say about the question, why say anything at all?  One individual didn't appear to read the question and commented anyway, then recited for me (almost verbatim) the exact point I put into the first post.  Why was that posted at all?  Threads become bloated (this one is at 41 pages!) with posts like that.  Real people who'd like to discuss real points get turned away and quality conversation gets blanched. You are all welcome to interpret that however you feel.  I will not bother with this thread any longer.
