Q: My recent calls appearing on another iPhone!?

Hi,

Hopefully you can help.

I use my phone for business and we have noticed in the last few days that all of the calls I make and receive are appearing in my wife's iPhone recent call history?

I have hunted high and low in settings on both phones but with no joy.

It is only affecting calls i make, not the other way round? so i am not seeing calls my wife makes on her phone in my recent call history?

It is also not affecting text messages...

We are both using the same iCloud account but the inconsistencies above suggest its something more involved (or very simple!)

The slightly odd thing is that it only seems to do it when my phone is at home, i went out this afternoon and the calls made/received have not appeared on her history. so maybe its a wifi thing?...but...

I also phoned vodafone when i got home to see if they could help (they couldn't!) and that short dial number is also not appearing on her history?

That may have fixed the issue I was having.  I have two iPhone 6s.  One is my personal phone and the other is my work phone.  I use the same iTunes account for both (why shouldn't I?).  I don't want work calls showing up on my home phone and vice versa.  This has been bugging me for a few weeks, but I think that has finally fixed it, so thanks!

Ah man 67606....Thank-you so much...been searching forever trying to find a solution to this.  I do not understand why Apple would have not provided this solution somehow.

    Thanks a lot.

If you read this thread you will find that it has been provided more than once already.

This didn't help after all.  All calls are still showing up on both phones no matter what I do.  All I want is for the calls to one phone to stay on that phone and not show up on the other phone.

I am quite sure your fix will not work.  I had been through that step-by-step with Apple, both on the phone and in person.  It may seem to work, but the next day you will find the lists again on your phone.  Apple Geniuses told me the only solution they know of is to get separate Apple IDs.  If there is anyone out there who is tempted to write a follow-up and suggest I and the others bothered by this, get separate IDs, DON'T!  Also, please refrain from posting follow-ups in which you extoll the virtues of having the lists show up on both phones.

It is crystal clear that Apple foisted this upon us, without consultation and without the ability to turn the feature on and off.  It is also crystal clear that one person with multiple devices, who used the same Apple ID for months or years before suddenly finding ourselves in this situation has a legitimate gripe.

Please follow-up with bona fide suggestions and do not rehash old non-working fixes.

While I entirely agree that the 67606 method is not a reliable fix I will ask you not to tell others what they should post. Moderating content on this site is not within your purview, please refrain or your post will be removed for violating the Terms of Use for this site.

I'm just going to create a second ID And use it on my work phone.  I think that will be a lot easier and a sure fix instead of constantly trying to get the phones to behave the way I want and then reverting back to what Apple wants after every update.

Sorry CSound1, I didn't have time to read through the 600+ posts....just looking for a solution and went straight to the end.  Sorry if I did not provide credit to whom it is due.

Gov, I feel your pain; I too have used 1 Apple ID for years but am now backed into a corner.  It seems to be working for me so far.  The only other thing I did was disable "Handoff".  Hopefully between the two, it will work.  Otherwise, I guess I will be forced as others have to create a sepreate Apple ID.

Unfortunately it is not a solution In many, maybe any circumstances, a temporary patch at best.

Has anyone tried going to "settings", then "iCloud", and then select, "iCloud Drive" and turn it OFF?? This worked for me and I thought it has been a solution for others as well. It seems like most do not need this option to be on. I realize this isn't a perfect solution, but I think it works for most.

It has worked for some, not all. But its not a solution, it's a workaround which if it works disables the iCloud Drive.

Does anyone know if Apple plans to fix this issue?  I have been sharing our same Apple ID for years...through plenty of different IOS'.  Recently, though, i receive my kids phone calls, other family calls show in my recent calls, etc.  This NEVER happened before.  I have everything turned off that should be (receive calls on other devices, only my phone number is check in FaceTime, etc).  When is Apple going to fix this?

Regarding the comment about NOT sharing the same Apple ID...they didn't used to offer Family Sharing in the past, so this was the answer for us busy families (shared calendar) with a lot of friends/family (shared contacts) that love music (shared music).  So, in order for my husband and our four kids to share the same "family" calendar of our events and contacts and music (and also know where are kids are located), we share the same Apple ID.  When i last looked into Family Sharing, it didn't allow you to have a "universal" contact account, so any new contacts added on a specific/stand alone Apple ID wouldn't be shared with all of us.  This defeats the purpose for us because i want all my kids to have all our family/friends/businesses addresses and phone numbers, as well as THEIR FRIENDS' info.  When you're a parent, sharing the calendar and contacts is a must.  The kids do, however, have their own APPLE IDs for FaceTime (when they didn't have an iPhone) and texting.  That obviously makes sense to do so.  I need them to use our same Apple ID for sharing...calendar, contacts, music, AND FIND MY IPHONE:)  Unless Family Sharing has been updated to allow us to share ONE account for contacts & calendars (I can always use FIND FRIENDs to know where they are:), I will NEVER switch to Family Sharing...

I am not sure Apple even knows this is a problem. I spent two hours on the phone with "Geniuses" and they couldn't figure out the recent contacts list was by Apple design.  I spent 1/2 hour with a "Genius" at the Apple store and he didn't know it.  It was only when he asked a supervisor for help that he was made aware.

I don't think Apple thought this thing through.  I can see where you would want to share many things with your children.  That you can, is a wonderful feature.  That your children can see all of the people who you called or called you should be problematic for most parents.

I've been led to believe that Apple peruses these forums.  I have my doubts.  I'm open to any suggestions.

It's NOT broken! You should NOT be sharing and ID. Calendars have been sharable since the very beginning. NO ID SHARING REQUIRED. Sharing contacts is almost as easy.
