Q: My recent calls appearing on another iPhone!?

Hi,

Hopefully you can help.

I use my phone for business and we have noticed in the last few days that all of the calls I make and receive are appearing in my wife's iPhone recent call history?

I have hunted high and low in settings on both phones but with no joy.

It is only affecting calls i make, not the other way round? so i am not seeing calls my wife makes on her phone in my recent call history?

It is also not affecting text messages...

We are both using the same iCloud account but the inconsistencies above suggest its something more involved (or very simple!)

The slightly odd thing is that it only seems to do it when my phone is at home, i went out this afternoon and the calls made/received have not appeared on her history. so maybe its a wifi thing?...but...

I also phoned vodafone when i got home to see if they could help (they couldn't!) and that short dial number is also not appearing on her history?

It's physically impossible for it to be happening if you properly erased the phone and then set it back up with a completely different ID. It has to be set up with the same ID.

I don't care how old you are or what your first computer. I got you beat on both counts.

You came here wanting to know how to fix a problem. You were told how. You said you did that. You did it wrong. How do I know? Because if you'd done it right, you wouldn't still have the problem. If you don't want to hear the truth, don't ask the question.

Why was it not a problem before? Because services are constantly evolving and expanding.

If you don't like the way it works, go tell Apple.

Hey Hey, come on you guys. Kilted, this arena is for help not slamming this guy. Anyway, how can you say he and I as well did it wrong? You weren't there, at least you weren't here when I went to the genius bar or beside me when I was on the phone with Apple Care. So I would be glad and I would even pay for yours or anyones services if they came over and retry all of the methods of repair/configuring, etc. mentioned, and have a result of no more shared "recents"

Slamming this guy? Hardly. Follow the instructions here: What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support, then set it up as a new phone with a different iCloud ID. Do NOT attempt to sync it with an iTunes library used by a different Apple ID or restore a backup.

    It's not rocket science.

    Come on Guys.

This forum is intended to help one another, not slander and judge one another.  The Facts are that thousands of Apple users have been using the same Apple ID on multiple devices for YEARS now with no issues, but a change from Apple has caused this new issue to occur.

True enough, using one ID may not have been a best practice or the correct method, but as of this post and the 700+ that have come before it, this is a serious issues for Apple users and all we are looking for is a little understanding being there may be justified reasons that we have used these devices in this manner over the years.

I, like most users that have been monitoring this forum, am being patient and either waiting for a solution from Apple or from an expert user on this forum hopefully to restore my devise to the working order that I have become accustomed to.  Maybe you guys are correct in that it is no longer possible and that we will have to change the way we use our devices going forward, but until then, can we be more understanding and respectful of new users that may present the question being they may not have had the time to read through the 700+ replies thus far and are just looking for a solution to this problem.

That is my 2 cents, but on a side note…honestly, I am a Microsoft Guy and there has been a lot of accusations on their practices and how they roll out changes to their customers with little consideration to how it affects their users…well hasn’t Apple done the same thing here in this case?  Never mind…I don’t want to open that can of worms.

It's only a serious issue for people who can't follow simple directions.

You don't know what you're talking about. Plain and simple. If you can't understand English well enough to follow simple instructions, then post in your native language.

I Think my English is not that Bad ,and i understand a Lot.

Also we have the Same Site in german and i have done it Several times when i sold my Old Phones.

To Set a Iphone to Factory Def is such a Big Deal

I Have done alot of Jailbreaking back on Iphone3 and 4 which was much more Complex.

I have done many Roots on other Devices so i think iam a Pro User and not that bad Rookie you want to see in any People which is not in your Line of Thinking.

    Think Differnt

The Simple Thinig is that Apple Changed something since 8.2 which works fine for Some People and not for some Other.

I on my Way to Take Action in the Apple Beta Programm, i think its a much Better Place to Discuss about this BUG/FEATURE.

The only Hatfull thing is , Apple dosnt Respond on this issue  here . but a Post of me which has some Harder Words was Deleted ,so now i Know they are reading this Post Here. WHY NO ANSWER ?

Your post was deleted because you violated the Apple Support Communities Terms of Use. As for why they don't answer you here, READ the Apple Support Communities Terms of Use. Apple does not participate here.

Apple does not respond to posts here because this is a user to user support forum. The site is hosted by Apple employees who ensure that the terms of use are followed by all participants, and they have the discretion to remove posts that violate those terms. Occasionally Apple Community Specialist will respond to posts that have languished for a couple of days, but the most experienced and insightful help you will get here will be from fellow users.

In relation to what KiltedTim was referring to, if you have correctly erased your device, then, by definition, the device can no longer be associated to an iCloud ID. It is the iCloud ID that ties phones together - nothing else. So, if an iCloud account is not signed on to a phone, there is no way for that phone to know any other phone numbers that are associated with that iCloud ID since that iCloud ID is no longer associated with the phone/phone number in question.

You mention that you have jailbroken phones in the past.If any of the devices that you are having issues with have been jailbroken, then there is no way to know what may or may not be happening to them. Whatever it might be, it would no longer be within the purview of Apple of of how Apple products work.

One cannot Erase a phone without turning off Find My iPhone and without signing out of iCloud, so you might want to start from the beginning on the issue you reported where a fully erased (non-jailbroken) phone started showing your calls after the device was erased and given to someone else?

    Cheers,

    GB
