Q: why are my missed calls showing on another iphone

When I receive calls the missed calls show on my wife's iphone.  We both use Iphone 5S's and we use the same apple ID for icloud and purchases.  But of course the numbers are different.  Also the phones are on 2 different phone accounts.

Why are these two phones sharing the call log?

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem and have had one icloud account since the very beginning (mobile me)

We have 4 iphones, ipads, apple tvs, etc...

Do you really want me to believe that I need to setup a different icloud account for every device or every user???

I have purchased icloud storage so I can store backup, share photos, images, etc. among all devices.

This is what icloud was intended for!

Stop telling people that we need to setup different accounts, use find my friends... I am not looking for my friends! These are family devices!

I am not sharing phone calls! That's it! I don't want to see missed calls on all phones.

    Yes.

    Then use Family Sharing.

iCloud accounts are not meant to be shared. If you insist on doing so, you will have to live with the consequences. Complaining about it will not alter reality.

    Tim,

Stop being an idiot. All the answers you give are condescending an provide 0 value!

Stop telling people about parenting style and other nonsense you have in your own lonely mind!

I am sorry you have no family, sit in front of a computer all day and give people attitude in front of a screen.

There might be a possibility all these people that have issues... purchased phones looong before you knew what they were or could afford them...

My children are minors and yes they have iphones! However I want to parent, guide, educate, and control them!

ONE ICLOUD account for all my devices!!

I need to do all management from one account! This is how it was! This is how it needs to stay!

You can do all of that with Family Sharing. And it has the advantage that your kids will not see your texts and who you call. And also has the advantage that you can install apps on your phone that they can't install. And you get to review and approve any apps that they want to install. You can't do that with a shared ID. If you share a single iCloud ID everyone sharing that ID can see everything that every other user is doing with their phone.

If a user has 2 devices it's fine to share an Apple ID between the devices (I have 4 devices sharing an Apple ID, and it's very convenient, but they are all mine - other family members have their own IDs).

Every user should have their own ID, not every device (users may own more than one)

This is how it has always been, regardless of what you believe.

    Lawrence, thanks for the reply.

It seems a little more complicated with family sharing but I could try.

I am quite happy with everything except the phone logs. This is the only complain I have.

How would the icloud backups work? I pay extra for storage as every backup is over the free 5GB.

Now all backups are under one account. Please don't tell me I need to buy extra storage for each account

To add to this complexity... I have a separate itunes account for apps and purchases... If any of you remember from the beginning...

Each Apple ID gets its own 5 GB, so you may not need to pay extra with separate iCloud IDs. And you can have a different Apple ID for apps and purchases from your iCloud ID, so you don't need to change that. Or you can have a "master" Apple ID for purchases that the individual family members can access. You can also optionally set a requirement that you approve any purchases by family members.

    Thanks Lawrence.

So now I actually have to pay for 4 x the icloud extra storage instead of 1.

And I have to manually check and maintain each of the 4 accounts.

This is what I was trying to avoid. Life is very busy.

Anyway sounds like is too complicated and more expensive for one simple thing I am asking.

I don't need the phone logs accross all phones. Everything else works perfect!

Accounts are free, so paying for them is not difficult.

Here we go again... here is another smart one...

I wasn't talking about the accounts... I know they are free...

Extra icloud storage is not free if you need more than 5Gb for each account.

So I need more extra storage on 4 accounts so I need to pay 4 times now!

Do as you wish, you can use the system anyway you like, the consequences will be yours to deal with.

I have been using it since 2007-2008 (That is like 8-9 years) and has been working perfectly!

    Until recently...

And another important fact is that in-app purchases do not work or transfer with family shared ids or accounts!

That`s a lot of extra costs I have to pay for now! So in reality is not as simple as it sounds.

Things change, either use it as Apple intended, or don't. It is up to you.

    Yes. That`s right! I forgot...

I probably need another DONGLE to keep using my icloud as it was intended!

No extra dongles (no dongles at all) needed to use it as it was intended
