I am upgrading the memory on my early 2011 MacBook Pro. It currently has 2 2gb memory cards in it. Can I swap one of the 2gb cards for a 4gb card and run a total of 6gb or do they need to be equal sized cards in each slot?

I Am upgrading the memory on my early 2011 15" macbook pro. It currently has 2 2gb cards in each slot for a total of 4gb. Can I replace one of the 2gb cards with a 4gb card for a total of 6gb? Do the memory cards need to be of equal size, ie 4 each or can I run a 2 and a 4?
