is there a way to bulk remove tags?

I made the mistake of trying to use tags as a replacement for the previously very functional file labels (from back in OS 10.6.8) and now want to remove the tags from about 60 items within a single folder. Is there a way to select all items within that folder and do a bulk removal of all of the tags? It seems that otherwise I must got through that folder and individually remove each tag by re-clicking on the tag button for that item. I'm hoping there is a more efficient way to get rid of these useless tags.

Thank you
